La Cruz is a building. A low-income residence managed by Catholic Charities.
But the La Cruz Community is a vibrant fabric created by people from diverse cultures and backgrounds. The community extends beyond the building, spilling out to enliven the surrounding community in St. Cloud.
The La Cruz Community Center serves as a gathering place for members of the community - including residents, former residents and those interested in participating in the creation of a well-woven community fabric. All are welcome.
The goal of the community center staff and volunteers is to provide a consistent and quality support system for members of the La Cruz community to help them achieve positive growth and success.
Our goals include:
- Building leadership in all parts of the family (parents and children)
- Providing a comprehensive guide of social services available in the St. Cloud area.
- Reinforcing the understanding of social and community rights and responsiblities, including those of the building, the surrounding schools and local health care providers.
- Providing skill-training and educational programs that help youth earn gainful employment.
- Seeking academic success for children by providing an after-school program.
- Directly addressing youth violence to thwart gang involvement.
