Back to School Drive
Would you ever leave for a long road trip with an empty gas tank?
Of course not, whether before you packed the car or on your way out of town, you’d fill it with gas, making sure you were prepared for the long drive ahead.
So why should area children leave for their first day of school without the supplies they need?
Catholic Charities is seeing the effects of the current economic situation. In June, we provided nearly 1,700 families with food because they couldn’t make ends meet. That’s 20% more than last year - 40% more than two years ago.
Come August, many of those families will need to send their children back to school. At Catholic Charities, we expect to be asked to help well over 1,000 children with back to school supplies this year.
In this time of great need, our community has responded. People like you have stepped up and helped us meet our neighbors' needs. Daily, I thank God for you and your efforts, but I must ask, please, could you help us again?
Please, consider donating some school supplies or conducting a school supply drive at your place of business to help Catholic Charities provide our local students with the basic supplies they need:
Boxes of washable markers
Scissors, preferably Fiskars
Elmer's School Glue and glue sticks
Dry erase board markers
Headphones for computer lab
Supplies can be dropped off at our Emergency Services building (behind Tenvoorde Ford) by August 14.
Thank you for helping the children in our community. With your support, we can continue to Provide Help, Create Hope and Serve All Faiths.
