Back to School Drive

Last year Catholic Charities Emergency Services assisted over 1,500 Central Minnesota students with basic school supplies. If the rising numbers of families using the food shelf is any indication, this year even more families are expected to seek help with the additional expense of school supplies.

We would appreciate you supporting our back to school efforts with a financial contribution or by conducting a school supply drive.

Supplies needed include:

  • backpacks
  • boxes of washable markers
  • colored pencils
  • scissors (preferably Fiskars)
  • rulers and large erasers
  • Elmer’s School Glue and glue sticks
  • scientific calculators
  • dry erase board markers
  • yellow highlighters
  • headphone for computer labs
  • USB sticks (portable computer memory)
  • pens and pencils

It’s fascinating how today’s technology has impacted the look of those basic school supplies, even chalk boards seem to be a thing of the past as just about every school supply list includes dry erase markers for every student.

Please take time to consider how to organize others to help. Some workplaces are ideal places to generate funds or supplies to help. Tools for conducting a drive can be found at here. Every contribution counts and may be able to help at least one child.

Supplies can be dropped off Monday through Friday, 8 – 4:30 p.m. and 8 – 8 p.m. on Wednesdays at Catholic Charities Emergency Services, 157 Roosevelt Road (behind Tenvoorde Ford).

Distribution of school supplies begins August 23.

Thank you for your support of our programs. Together, we can make a different tomorrow for Central Minnesota.

Sincerely,

Kathryn Stolpman
