Available presentations from Social Concerns

    • Catholic Social Teaching - Many say this is the “best-kept secret” in the Catholic Church, yet according to Pope Benedict XVI, this is one of the three essential ministries of the Church. 
    • Parish Social Ministry - An exploration of what it means to build the Kingdom of God in the world. Participants will be asked to reflect on their parish’s call to ministry with and for the “widows, orphans, and strangers” of our day.
    • Catholic Campaign for Human Development - Learn more about the U.S. Church’s efforts to fight poverty through the Bishops’ domestic social justice program.
    • Immigration - Explore the recent Minnesota Bishops’ statement on immigration, as well as local demographics, common myths, and implications for our parish communities.
    • Poverty - What is the reality of poverty on the local and national level, in light of the economic crisis our nation is facing?
    • “The New Sins” - It was reported that in 2008 the Vatican came out with a new set of sins. Explore their meaning and relevance for our lives and our world.
    • Faithful Citizenship: How to Vote Catholic? - Church documents will be explored to determine what voting and political involvement means for Catholics.
