As Catholics, we are part of a rich tradition that helps us consider the challenges in public life and contribute to greater justice and peace for all people.

Every four years, the U.S. Bishops have sought to share Catholic teaching on political life through a series of statements on Catholics’ political responsibility.The Bishops' most recent document, Forming Consciences for Faithful Citizenship affirms what the Church has always taught, but in light of new challenges facing our nation and world:

“…responsible citizenship is a virtue, and participation in political life is a moral obligation…”
