Volunteer Opportunity

Position:
Multilingual Translator

Languages: Spanish, Somali, Thai, Vietnamese, Hindi, and Chinese
Program Served:

Catholic Charities Emergency Services.

Catholic Charities Emergency Services assists individuals who find themselves in difficult financial circumstances to obtain food, clothing, mental health counseling and emergency funds necessary to maintain themselves and their families until better times. Too often non-English speaking clients find themselves unable to communicate their needs to staff, leaving their needs unfulfilled.

Primary Duties:
 Emergency Services is currently seeking volunteers with knowledge of a second language to help staff communicate with these clients.
Location: 
 Catholic Charities, 157 Roosevelt Rd, St. Cloud, MN 56301
Hours: 

Time commitment:

  • Mon. 1:00-6:00 PM
  • Wed. 1:00-8:00 PM, and
  • Fridays until noon.
  • Even an hour of your time would highly benefit others.
   
Qualifications:
  
Experience: 
 1) Good verbal abilities.
2) Likes sharing life and experience with others.
Other: 
  • Fluency in both English and another language
  • Good oral communication skills
   
Stipends / Reimbursements:
 None.
Position Available: 
 Immediately.
