Helping people with development disabilities live in a supportive community

Catholic Charities Bethany Home is designed to give families peace of mind for their loved one by delivering quality services and respectful, compassionate care in the best possible manner. To that end, Catholic Charities has developed adult foster care residences that actually feel like home. Residents have the ability to live as a community with staff part of this supportive, home-style environment as the guests in their home. Whether at Bethany, Mother Teresa , St. Anne's, St. Francis, or St. Luke's, we believe that our residences belong to the people who live there.

Strengths of this unique residential program

  • Catholic Charities adult residential care homes provide services that respond to conditions of mental retardation and related conditions as well as offering alternatives for disabled individuals.
  • Each Catholic Charities' home is a fully-accredited Adult Foster Care Home, providing supervised living services to people with developmental disabilities.
  • Each home has access to a full-time Nurse who ensures that ALL of the medical needs of the residents are met. The nurse coordinates and transports individuals to their scheduled medical appointments in the community.
  • Each home is supervised by a Qualified Mental Retardation Professional who has many years of practical experience and remains on-site, rather than traveling from one residence to another.
  • Each staff member is fully qualified, receives on-going training, and is routinely evaluated on his or her performance.
  • Residents are helped to participate in a variety of Day Services Programs and outings.

Services stand apart from others

Catholic Charities' Adult Foster Care Homes are the best choice families and their disabled loved-ones have when the decision is made to explore alternative care.

  • We strive to adapt to our clients rather than requiring that our clients conform to a more rigid group home model.
  • We have the capacity to work with residents with multiple disabilities.
  • Two of our facilities are handicapped accessible and equipped to handle an adult with multiple disabilities.
  • We serve a broader range of clients from younger individuals with behavior difficulties to older adults with aging issues.
  • Our range of services allows residents to stay in the home permanently, reducing the need for potentially disruptive transfers from one facility to another due to limited capabilities.

Families find peace of mind

Families can have confidence in our commitment to their loved ones and our ability to deliver quality services. Catholic Charities faith-based mission (link to Mission Statement) encourages a warm, supportive environment where the individual is treated with love and dignity. Experience has taught us to serve the total person who is in our care. Physical, recreational, emotional, and spiritual requirements are addressed. Finally, our goal is to encourage as much independence as possible for the adult in our care, accepting the existing level of competence as a good beginning place.

Referrals

People eligible for Supervised Living Services through Catholic Charities must be referred by their county social service agencies, public and private, which must screen, approve, and recommend adults to our care. Often, these individuals are already receiving some sort of in-home services (possibly through Catholic Charities Waivered Services) or other waivered services but need additional care as they or their parent's age.

We can also accommodate our clients on a private-pay basis.
