Helping adults, children, and families through grief and loss

Catholic Charities Life Transitions Services offers help for adults, children, and families who are experiencing grief and loss. Through counseling, group experiences, talks and presentations, information, and referrals, participants are assisted through the process of coping with loss experiences that may have an impact on the individual and/or family functioning.boy

 

General Life Transitions Components

With the invaluable assistance of approximately 65+ long-term volunteers, the LTS staff is able to coordinate specific programming for those experiencing major life changes.  All of the Separated / Divorced and Widowed Persons programming components are facilitated by either staff or trained volunteers who themselves have personally grown through such a life experience.

  • Brief grief counseling (no charge)
  • Resources on grief and loss (no charge)
  • Talks/presentations on various grief and loss issues (speaking fee)
  • Information and referrals (no charge)
  • Center for Life Tranistions building is available for community meetings (nominal fee)

Educational services

With the invaluable assistance of approximately 65+ long-term volunteers, our Life Transitions Services staff coordinates programming specific to people undergoing major life changes. All of the Separated/Divorced and Widowed Persons program components are facilitated by either a staff person or trained volunteers who have personally grown through their own similar life experience. Counselors and group facilitators can also help with:

  • Grief presentations — Sensitive, reality-based information about the effects of grieving, with an emphasis on developing meaningful and healthy coping skills and support
  • Facilitation training — Specialized training for support group facilitators, tailored to fit a specific topic
  • Educational resources — Books, videos, board games, and resource materials about death and divorce available
  • Outreach services — Assistance to help communities establish their own local support group or programming
