Senior Dining

Being a senior looks very different today than it did just a decade ago.

Being a senior looks very different today than it did just a decade ago. Two things, however, remain unchanged: seniors want to be healthy and lead independent lives. Catholic Charities Senior Dining provides healthy, nutritious meals to persons age 60 and over, helping seniors get well and stay well.

Home-Delivered Meals

Catholic Charities Meals on Wheels Program delivers nutritious noon-hour meals to the homes of at-risk, homebound, ill, and vulnerable persons age 60 and older in 44 communities across central Minnesota. If you or a family member cannot leave home for a meal, contact the Senior Dining Coordinator in your area to arrange Meals on Wheels Service.

Senior meals are intended for seniors 60 or older, low income (at or below the poverty line), in need of nutritional support, and have difficulty preparing or shopping for their own meals. Diners should look for the frozen meal distribution for the county they live in.

Are you recovering from a major surgery, cancer treatment or just in need of rehabilitation time due to an injury or illness? Healthy nutrition is critical at this time for the healing process. Eating right and connecting with someone on a daily basis can make the difference between a successful transition home or a readmission back to the hospital. Please speak with your hospital social worker about how you can receive nutritious meals provided by the Catholic Charities Senior Dining Meals on Wheels Program. Cost of this service is based on an individual assessment and is offered in designated areas.

Catholic Charities can also deliver full-price meals to those under age 60 who need service due to an illness or injury.

(Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program)

The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP, is a federal program that helps low-income individuals pay for food. It helps put food on the table each month.

It supplements food budgets, enabling Minnesotans to buy more nutritious food, including fruits, vegetables, whole grain foods, dairy products, plants and seeds to grow food. It is the cornerstone of the nation’s nutrition assistance safety net.
