Lemonade Stand for Good

Aug 11, 2023

Never underestimate the power of a lemonade stand, especially one that’s run by Lorelei, Everett and Ayren, grandchildren of Mary Ann and Henry who are regular volunteers at our Emergency Services Food Shelf.

These kids raised $159.66 by selling lemonade and cookies to support our food shelf and the people we serve. When they recently presented their check to Eric Vollen, Emergency Services Program Manager, they had the chance to stand on our weigh station’s scale, tour the food shelf, and even cool down inside our new walk-in freezer!

They also learned that with our three-to-one buying power, we can now purchase $500 of food to support our neighbors experiencing food insecurity. They thought that was amazing!

“I’m so proud of these ‘philanthro-kids’ and their support of Catholic Charities Food Shelf,” said Eric Vollen. “Having Lorelei, Ayren and Everett do this for their community—their neighbors—is truly inspiring. They know that some people don’t have what others have when it comes to food, and they want everyone to be happy and healthy. What’s not to love about that?”

Community support sometimes comes from surprising places—and little people. Together, we really can make a different tomorrow. Thanks, kids!
